FINAL ISSUE OF SMITHS KNOLL
Issue 50 is now full and will be published and mailed out by the 2nd November 2012, to coincide with the 24th Aldeburgh Poetry Festival. This will be the final issue of the magazine. Subscribers who are paid up beyond issue 50 will receive the appropriate refund. Many thanks to readers and contributors for their loyal and appreciative support over the past 21 years. It’s been fun.
Here are a couple of poems from our final issue; the first by Robert Etty, who uniquely also appeared in the first in 1991.
The second is by another poet we have been particularly happy to publish – Tom Duddy. Tom, we were very saddened to hear, died prematurely this year. His 2011 collection The Hiding Place was shortlisted for the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival First Collection Prize and Helena Nelson at Happenstance, who published his pamphlet The Small Hours in 2006, promises a posthumous collection. His lovely poem The Touch appeared in Smiths Knoll 45 and subsequently in The Forward Book of Poetry.
